random photos I found on my terrible digital camera from the past year:

I think this was at the art museum?

I need to capture more memories, or something. Meaning = I need to get a smartphone, or something.

Is there anything more embarrassing than talking to your boyfriend on the phone in your privacy of your room and pretending to do weird voices/scenarios (in which you are a wayward moose robbing a 7-11 of its slushie machine), and then hearing, suddenly, your brother burst into laughter in the next room and yell at you, "What the fuck is THAT?!"

...Nope. I don't think so.

I had a pretty successful couple of days with Goodwill and yard sales, so I wanted to post photos of my new acquisitions :):

one shoulder dress. God knows when I'll wear it, but I love it.

and I didn't get these from Goodwill/garage sale shopping, but I just wanted to post a photo of the hilariously adorable socks my boyfriend got for me.

yum, yum and EXTRA yum

Hello, morning cowlick.

I am quite excited for this weekend (thank god for weekends!).

In store for today:
  • Target trip (4lyf) to pick up some goodies as well as some baby food for my poor mother, who can't eat solid foods for a month due to oral surgery,
  • A bit of garage sale shopping, I hope!,
  • Starting "Brideshead Revisted,"
  • Video chatting with my love (and starting "Wilfred" on Hulu because it looks hilarious),
  • Annie comes over!,
  • Biscuit baking and the drive-in movie theater, perhaps?
Tomorrow:
  • Bowling with Mai-Chi and friends,
  • Pho Hanoi, how I miss theeeee,
  • Church (well... okayyy...),
  • Visiting my Grandma, as always,
  • Some hanging out with the boy on the Internetz/getting some writing done?
Next weekend, Kyle is coming up, so we shall be perfecting mini pot pies and going on Groupon dates. I am very excited. YAY.

"It's the tragedy of loving, you can't love anything more than something you miss."

- Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Missing my boyf, and also missing some Jonathan Safran Foer in my life. Or Nicole Krauss. Is a reread of "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" in order, or a reread of "The History of Love"?

It's strange how I think of them as the same entity (especially because those two novels in particular have such similar elements) just because the two authors are married to each other.

I know this is just an ad for Tiffany's, but I'm a sucker and I love real life love stories, so I thought it was sweet

true life confession:

If a Taylor Swift song comes onto my Pandora station, I will drop everything I'm doing so I can listen to it properly.

I never wear this. Does anyone want it? Just let me know if you do!

mixed berries & nutella & this american life

AND it's Friday/pay day tomorrow. I feel good.
Is it weird that I have my severed ponytail in a ziploc bag (to keep before I send it off for donation), and I take it out and pet it affectionately, like a well-loved pet?

Yeah, don't answer that.

ahahahaha this is amazing

  1. update resume
  2. start going to the gym again
  3. read more

  5. make more friends
  6. sleep at a reasonable hour

without fail

Davis = eczema flare-ups

sigh. Why is my skin so weird?

maybe i want a paper bouquet when i get married!

This 51-year-old guy and his 16-year-old wife are my favorite yucky celebrity news story ever.

some good things:

  1. It is Friday.
  2. It was my turn to buy breakfast for the office (it's reimbursed), so I went into Noah's and ordered 18 bagels. Apparently 18 bagels costs about the same as 26 bagels, so extra bagels for me this weekend!
  3. Going to Davis to watch Harry Potter 7 with my boyfriend. I shall cry SO much. It's a given.
  4. Wearing my golden snitch necklace, obviously.
  5. Buying the latest issue of Glamour magazine and relaxing on the train ride with some music as well as a copy of Middlesex that I purchased for $2, obviously.
  6. Wearing dresses all weekend because finally, we have actual summer weather!
  7. I've been exhausted and unmotivated at work for the past few days, but on the flip side, have jotted down a couple of paragraphs of what seems to be Harry Potter fanfiction. JUST KIDDING. OR AM I? Either way, you will never know.
<3 weekends.

is it just me, or does this just look like shutter island reprised?

i need to go to the gym more.

Someday my friends, with the aid of consistent exercise and breathing exercises, I shall have a somewhat normal lung capacity. Until then, I have inhalers.

bunny

My "thank you for your monthly donation" note from Mercy Corps came with a little stuffed ram this week.

Awesome!

forehead monster:

My brother: "You know. I've aways wondered what shape your head is. It's so weird. And then today I realized that it was an egg. You have an egg head. Also, when did your cheeks get so puffy?"

a brief respite:

A fresh loaf of French bread, olive oil with lots and lots and lots of garlic (a craving from yesterday w/the ever lovely Annie Wang), and a bottle of mango lemonade.

Brief relaxation, then back to work!

Tonight, I resolve to sleep a reasonable amount.

I had this perfect dream in which my mom knew I was moving out and told everyone and bought me a dachshund puppy as a housewarming gift. I WISH.

summer lovin'

My weekend:

  • Missed my hair appointment due to traffic/bad GPS directions/the fact that I can't parallel park (eep), so I'm still stuck with this long mane. Hopefully, I shall be rid of it sometime this week, because currently it feels like a fleece blanket around my neck. NOT COOL.
  • Boyfriend times! A bit of hiking up in the Los Gatos hills, some bookstore times, some drunken bowling with my cousin and his gf (which resulted in my first hangover in a... while. Yay for wholesome family fun!). Twas good times, and we also dusted off my dear Canon A-1 again for some photographing.
  • WORK WORK WORK. It's neverending.

even the trailer for this makes me tear up:

MUST WATCH. I hope it comes to theaters here!

WORKING ON WEEKENDS W/NO OVERTIME = NOT. FUN.

OKAY YOU GUYS. SO I AM BEYOND EXCITED TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU, ESPECIALLY IF YOU SHARE MY SAME LITERARY INTERESTS.

I received today a response to a fan letter I wrote to Margaret Atwood, in which I rambled (in tiny handwriting on silly stationary in the middle of the night) about how she was my hero and how "The Blind Assassin" has been one of the most formative reads of my life, and how I just admire her so so much.

And it wasn't just a form letter response! Because she mentioned something about how I asked for "writerly advice" (yes, she put it in quotes like that) and sent me a bookplate, "perhaps for your copy of 'The Blind Assassin.'"

I am pretty much exploding with glee because my literary hero READ some silly letter I wrote. Oh my goodness.

the light at the end of the tunnel is always so welcome

Just took the best "breather" lunch break in which I consumed a salmon maki roll and some miso soup in the library by my lonesome (out of CHOICE now, rather than b/c I am a social pariah - hah, middle school). I also bought a few books for $2/piece at the library book store (Maus, Middlesex!) and indulged in a caramel frapp from Starbucks.

It matters not that I was bombarded with a million emails and "please come talk to me about this project" (aka - there is more work for you to do) notices upon my return. What matters is this:

The weekend is a day away, Kyle is coming(!!!!), I got some great deals on books, and I will be DONE with these projects before I know it. Also, I think I will actually get a full night's sleep tonight. YES.

P.S. - I am sorry if I have been MIA on folks for the past few weeks (KJudd - I am talking about our writing project!!). Work's been crazy and hopefully I shall emerge from this soon. <3!

A frozen pizza, spectacles and another long night ahead of me.

I feel like I've been transported back to finals week or something. Damn you, semiconductor trade shows!

optimal cure for a 12-hour workday:

  • Red velvet
  • Chick lit
  • A pre-bedtime vidchat session with my favorite boy
This week's going to be hard, you guys. BUT AT LEAST I HAVE CAKE & SOPHIE KINSELLA & A BOYFRIEND, RIGHT?

Also, speaking of chick lit - last week I was stressed out at work (I believe this was on Friday), so I bought a sushi roll, sat in the library like a hobo, and read "Teen Idol" by Meg Cabot while stuffing my face with a Crunch Monkey Roll. All by my lonesome. True story. I have honed my stress-coping mechanisms and they WORK.

lololol

Just came back from a lovely 4th of July weekend with all these people.

Exhausted, but so so glad that I have the best extended family in the world :)
